Join our Community Day!
The Town of Wappinger 2018 Community Day will take place at Schlathaus Park on Saturday, September 8 (rain date September 9). It’s the 43rd anniversary of this family fun day, which we try to grow and enhance each year. This event includes a parade, concert, kids’ rides, contests, games and fireworks – something for everyone.
There are a number of ways you can participate in the event:
1) You can host a vendor booth! Our vendors add so much to this event and have found it is a good way to meet community members, showcase and increase their business, and our goal is for them to have a great experience as well. Historically, our vendors have included community organizations, businesses and food and craft booths.
2) March in the parade! Are you part of an organization, community group or have a business you want to showcase? What better way than a parade! As you know, parades are always popular, and we strive every year to make it bigger and better. You can march with a group, ride in a car, or even better – enter a float. It’s fun, it’s free and you’ll have a great time. The parade will line up at 12:00 noon at 169 Myers Corners Road, step off at 1:00 p.m., and proceed east one-half mile to Schlathaus Park, where it will disburse.
3) Volunteer! Putting on an event of this size takes a lot of work – and people! We have several options for folks who want to help out, or if you are a student needing to perform community service, it’s a great way to get your hours in. You can run one of our games for kids, you can help with parking or you can assist with the parade lineup. With so many ways to participate, we’ll have a job for you.
